What is NOT a DMCA Violation

Before submitting a takedown request, please understand that the following are NOT copyright infringement:

Listing your publicly available creator profile

Your username, display name, and public bio are not copyrighted works.

Displaying your public avatar/profile picture

Profile images you made public for promotional purposes.

Linking to your creator page

Hyperlinks are not copyright infringement under US law.

Simply not wanting to be listed

Removal requests for non-copyright reasons should be sent to [email protected] (not as DMCA).

Warning: Filing a false DMCA takedown notice is perjury under 17 U.S.C. § 512(f) and can result in liability for damages, including costs and attorney fees incurred by the accused party.

Requirements for a Valid DMCA Notice

Under 17 U.S.C. § 512(c)(3), a valid DMCA takedown notice must include:

  • 1.A physical or electronic signature of a person authorized to act on behalf of the copyright owner
  • 2.Identification of the copyrighted work claimed to have been infringed
  • 3.Identification of the material that is claimed to be infringing, with specific URLs
